Aeris was founded in 1992 and began offering data services in 1998, becoming the first wireless carrier exclusively focused on M2M. The growth of Aeris mirrors the development and growth of M2M communications and today is the largest wireless network services provider in the Western Hemisphere.

In 2005, Aeris deployed the 1,000,000th unit on its network, prompting Andy Seybold to award Aeris with the Outlook 4Mobility 2006 Innovation Award.
