  • Network Engineer

    The Network Engineer is responsible for supporting all Technical Operational issues related to the Aeris product.

    The Network Engineer is responsible for performing two core functions with Aeris. The primary function is the provision of Technical Support to the Aeris Customer base and the second is to monitor and maintain Aeris network elements. This includes alarm monitoring, isolation and correction of network related problems, responding to and tracking of customer-reported incidents, along with a variety of other troubleshooting and reporting activities. The Network Engineer will also support the growth, integration, and qualification of new and existing network elements and equipment.

    Job Requirements

    Aeris operates a 24x7 production environment and is looking to expand to its Support capabilities with alternating workweeks of three 12-hour shifts and four 12-hour shifts.

    The Network Engineer will work with employees, managers, customers, and vendors to ensure the quality and reliability of the Aeris network, support systems and infrastructure. Observation of all company security, safety, code of ethics and other compliance policies will also be required of the Network Engineer.

    Duties and Responsibilities but not limited to:

    • Handle Customer trouble tickets and service requests within Customer SLAs via phone and e-mail.
    • Respond to and troubleshoot customer issues, raise bugs and follow issues to closure.
    • Complete analysis to identify and resolve equipment and customer trouble.  Actively communicate with others to develop and execute corrective action plans.
    • The Network Engineer will provide Support of the Aeris production and corporate networks. This support involves the design, implementation troubleshooting, and monitoring of all routers, switches, load balancers, and firewalls in both the data center and WAN environment.
    • Develop, build, configure and deploy network monitoring and control systems.
    • Daily monitoring of all Customer KPIs, follow up with corrective and preventative action.
    • Create and maintain proper documentation.
    • Alarm monitoring of the Aeris network, responding to trouble indications and customer trouble reports. Reviews network data and performance documentation to ensure the Aeris network is operating properly and as designed.
    • Interface with Network Systems Engineers, Hardware/Software Engineering, Marketing and Management.

    Qualifications (Key Skills, Education and Experience)

    • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related technical discipline preferred.
    • Minimum of 3+ years experience working with data center and networking environments or providing support for a wireless provider or infrastructure vendor.
    • Experience supporting a 24x7 production environment.
    • Experience with Linux/Unix systems administration.
    • Experience in the development of monitoring technologies with network/device management using SNMP such as SolarWinds, HP Openview, Castlerock etc or equivalent.
    • Understanding of TCP/IP fundamentals (DNS, FTP, SSH), general networking technologies, network architecture and connectivity troubleshooting. Formal hardware training and/or certification from Cisco or Sun would be a plus.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Hands-on experience with Cellular Networking equipment and protocols; experience with MSCs, HLRs, STPs, IS41, SS7 TCP/IP and mobile IP would be considered a plus.
