Marketing & Talent Intern

Where are you from?

San Jose, CA

What do you study and where?

I am pursuing a double major in Politics and Legal Studies with a minor in Global Information & Social Enterprise Studies at the University of California, Santa Cruz.

Favorite Aeris project that you have worked on?

My favorite project that I worked on at Aeris was creating the company’s diversity & inclusion website content and strategy.

Favorite experience with the interns?

My favorite experience with the interns was undoubtedly our trip to Santa Cruz. We explored the Beach Boardwalk, saw sea lions at the Wharf, ate delicious food, and checked out the Mystery Spot. It was a treat to be a UCSC student and show the team around town.

What have you gained from the internship?

One of the most valuable aspects of my internship was that I gained a network of incredible new friends, connections, and mentors. Through this network, I extensively learned about content strategy, project management, marketing, and teamwork.

What advice would you give someone considering an Aeris internship?

If you are an underrepresented student interested in learning more about the tech industry and startups, the Aeris internship program is an excellent way to get your foot in the door. I encourage you to find advocates who will support and uplift you along the way.

What is your most unforgettable memory at Aeris?

I will always remember the bright and thoughtful interns, staff, and executives that I worked with at Aeris.

What is your favorite part about working at Aeris?

My favorite part about working at Aeris is that the projects I worked on had meaningful and tangible results. This was made possible because my mentors always took my questions, recommendations, and insights seriously. They deeply cared about my experience at Aeris and personal growth.

What made you choose Aeris?

I chose Aeris because of the internship program’s emphasis on diversity & inclusion. The internship program affirmed my sense of belonging in the tech industry while giving me an introduction to the Internet of Things ecosystem. Systematic barriers have historically excluded marginalized communities from influencing the direction of technology. As a Southeast Asian woman in tech, I believe that there needs to be radical approaches to decolonize tech to address injustices that exist in the tech industry.
