Data Science & Strategy Intern
Washington University, St. Louis
Where are you from?
Buffalo Grove, IL
What do you study and where?
Business and Computer Science at Washington University in St. Louis.
Favorite Aeris project that you have worked on?
I collaborated with another intern (Erik) to develop machine learning software which detects anomalous behavior exhibited by devices connected to Aeris’s network. We also got to work under the VP of Strategy to determine alternative commercial applications of our code and recommend which opportunities Aeris should pursue.
Favorite experience with the interns?
The Giants vs. Athletics baseball game – I didn’t really have a horse in the race, but it was still super fun.
What have you gained from the internship?
Definitely a variety of new technical skills. More broadly speaking, though, the experience of working at a high-growth firm in an extremely competitive industry has allowed me to develop a more entrepreneurial and strategic decision-making framework.
What advice would you give someone considering an Aeris internship?
There are few opportunities like this, where you’re afforded significant responsibility and can create immediate impact at an industry-leading company. The work will undoubtedly be a challenge, and so if you’re hoping to learn a ton, this is the place for you.
What is your most unforgettable memory at Aeris?
The Santa Cruz trip was a great time. We got to spend a whole day at the Boardwalk and Mystery Spot, getting to know each other better.
What is your favorite part about working at Aeris?
I was granted an incredible amount of independence and responsibility. My manager trusted me not just to complete my projects on time, but also to make major decisions on the directions I wanted to take them. I learned a lot more because of this.
What made you choose Aeris?
I wanted the opportunity to engage in substantial, impactful work in an exciting and constantly evolving industry where I’d never stop learning. That made Aeris an easy choice.
