GeoSpace Labs & Aeris Join Forces to Help Make North American Highways Safer via IoT

October 25, 2017

Companies collaborate to progress federally certified safety solutions that monitor commercial carriers’ hours of service

FORT COLLINS, Colo., and SAN JOSE, Calif., Oct. 25, 2017 – GeoSpace Labs and Aeris, a technology leader in the Internet of Things (IoT), today announced they are working together to help North American companies monitor commercial carriers’ hours of service to ensure compliance with federal safety regulations through IoT technologies.

The Aeris® IoT Services platform is being used by GeoSpace Labs and its Geowiz PRO, a telematics solution designed to create and transmit electronic hours of service logs for transportation companies in North America. Aeris® IoT Connectivity services offer many innovative features that allow GeoSpace Labs to improve its service delivery and increase service radius.

Geowiz PRO provides advanced geospatial features, including a first-of-its-kind Carrier Information System (CIS) that includes the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Association (FMCSA) compliant hours of service electronic logging device (ELD) technology.

Aeris and GeoSpace Labs are addressing an important requirement as more than two million drivers in the U.S. and Canada will need to be FMCSA compliant by the Dec. 18, 2017 and fourth quarter of 2019, respectively. The ELD rule – congressionally mandated as a part of MAP-21 – is intended to help create a safer work environment for drivers, and make it easier and faster to accurately track, manage, and share records of duty status (RODS) data. An ELD synchronizes with a vehicle engine to automatically record driving time for easier, more accurate hours of service (HOS) recording.

GeoSpace Labs was founded by David Lady and Mark Rupert and manufactures hardware and software dedicated to making people safer on North American highways. The company has operations in Colorado and Florida.

  • Liz Leahy, Safety Director, US 1 Industries
“We selected the Geowiz ELD system because it is a very encompassing product at a reasonable price. GeoSpace Labs provides excellent customer service and support. We have learned over the past year that the data service for an ELD is just as important as the usability of the product itself.”
  • Christina Richards, Vice President of Global Marketing, Aeris
“Aeris is an Internet of Things industry leader and through our work with GeoSpace Labs, we can allow their customers the opportunity to ensure compliance with federal safety regulations through IoT.
