IoT Ramps Up in India

file0001980941201The Internet of Things (IoT) / machine-to-machine (M2M) communications is taking hold in India, thanks to a combination of factors. Narendra Modi, Indias new Prime Minister, has brought a sense of dynamism to the economy, and the countrys world-class systems integration industry is vigorously engaging with new and emerging IoT/M2M competitive landscapes.

Thats the view of Jim Morrish, founder and Chief Research Officer of the analyst firm Machina Research, which earlier this month gave a presentation at the National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOMs) Annual Technology Conference in Delhi.

Morrish noted this week in an article in M2Mworldnews.com, that many of the companies expecting to lead IoT/M2M development in India, including Aeris, attended the influential conference.

This year the conference focussed on IoT and Big Data, and many of the companies that can be expected to play dominant and influential roles in the Indian IoT space were represented, including the likes of Tech Mahindra, Airtel and IBM. There were also a number of newer startups in the IoT space in attendance, Morrish said. Against this general background of established industry players and upstarts, it was good to see one of the Wests leading niche IoT-specialist companies present, in the form of Aeris represented by the head of their Indian office.

Aeris has a strong presence in India as part of its international business, and also partners with Tech Mahindra, a global systems integrator and business transformation services firm focused on the telecommunications industry. This partnership will extend the reach of Aeris' M2M cellular network globally and bolsters Tech Mahindra's ability to offer a leading M2M platform to cellular operators worldwide.

Aeris is a pioneer and leader in the market of the Internet of Things as an operator of end-to-end M2M services and as a technology provider enabling other operators to deliver profitable M2M services. In October, Aeris launched Neo, an open and transparent online marketplace for IoT and M2M connectivity. Neo radically simplifies IoT development process, speeding time-to-market, and dramatically lowering costs by 50 percent or more.
