IET Panel concluded India’s largest conclave – IoT India Congress 2019

Bangalore, 23 August 2019 – Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) successfully concluded 4th edition of ‘IoT India Congress 2019’, today. The 2 days long event witnessed an enthralling series of panel discussions, key note addresses, automotive live exhibition session and many more. This edition witnessed the participation of over 1600 attendees comprising of speakers, industry leaders, government stakeholders and change makers of the IoT Industry, both national and international. This edition included a mix of 10 panel discussions, 4 use cases sessions and 5 future tech spotlight sessions.

“IoT is something that has enormous potential for India and the world. A combination of technology can help us solve problems that we never imagined we could solve. We must understand the combination of emerging technologies like IoT, blockchain, 3D printing etc, pluck them out of their spaces and deploy them to solve problems. IoT will be the champion in adding to the proliferation of data” elated the secretary of Ministry of electronics and information technology Ajay Prakash Sawhney

Delivering the opening speech, Dr. Rishi Mohan Bhatnagar, Chairman IET IoT Panel and President, Aeris Communications said “With IoT gaining the momentum in India, it is an exciting moment to witness the amalgamation of government and industry bodies together at the 4th edition of the IoT India congress. We believe IoT has the potential to change the way how we function, and it is disrupting multiple sectors. We at IET IoT Panel understand the necessity to connect the industry leaders to further the growth and adoption of IoT technology.”

Aeris Communications, a preferred Internet of Things (IoT) technology partner for enterprises, had participated in the IoT India Congress for the 4th consecutive year and set-up booth showcasing IoT live use cases and solutions with electric Vehicle OEMs. This year, Kinetic Electric’s 3-wheeler and Tresmoto eBike was showcased, generating a lot of excitement. The booth was also visited by Sir Robin Saxby, the former Chief Executive and Chairman, ARM Holdings.

Mr Sameer Mahapatra, Country Sales Head, India and SAARC at Aeris Communications, deliberated on the key challenges for the connected car and vehicle ecosystem, how state has a large role now to play and how 5G will be a must for Vehicle to Vehicle and Vehicle to Infrastructure proliferation in the panel discussion on the Digital Communications.

On day 2 of the event, Mr Ranjeet Koul, Vice President and Country Manager, APAC & MEA, kickstarted the Agriculture track with a presentation on Farm Equipment as a service.  He elaborated the work done by Aeris Communications in Africa in partnership with Hello Tractor and how the model is getting replicated in Bangladesh and in India. He shared insights on Aeris IoT Solutions and Services for the Agricultural sector that helps small to medium land holding farmers to rent farm equipment and pay only for the number of hours the equipment has been utilized. Adding to the utilities of the services, he explained how IoT can help farmers grow their business, remove the middlemen and increase the yield with the help of technology.

The Congress also hosted multiple tracks on impact of IoT in Automotive, Telecommunication, Digital Payments, Skills and education, Manufacturing, Smart Cities and Emerging Technologies with participation from Dr E.V. Ramana Reddy, IAS- Additional Chief Secretary, Department of ITBT, GoK, Juergen Hase– CEO, Unlimit, Prof David De Roure, Professor- eResearch, University of Oxford, Anil Kadam – GM, Schneider Electric, Praveen Arora – Vice President, India IoT, Tata Communications to name a few.

IoT India Congress

IoT India Congress is the annual flagship event organised by IET India IoT Panel. The event serves as the Platform of Platforms for the Internet of Things and brings together players from across the IoT ecosystem.

The IET IoT Panel

The IET IoT Panel is a think tank formed in 2015, consisting of leaders in the IoT industry. The objective was to raise a neutral and credible voice to spread awareness of the IoT in India and help accelerate the adoption of IoT. The focus of the panel is to facilitate discussions that will help in making the inevitable connected world more efficient, smart, innovative and safe. Leveraging its position as a multi-disciplinary organisation, IET India launched its IoT panel on February 20, 2015 with Dr Rishi Bhatnagar (President – Aeris Communication) as the Chairperson. The panel, being a first of its kind in India, focuses not only on technology but the application aspect of IoT in various segments.
