Aeris Communications Saraswathi Balasubramaniam has been included in the prestigious list of Women of M2M by Connected World magazine. Balasubramaniam is a senior software engineer with Aeris.

Connected Worlds Women of M2M list includes such industry leaders as Marissa Mayer, president and CEO of Yahoo, Hewlett-Packard CEO Meg Whitman, and Karen Baer, director of AT&T. In announcing the list, Connected World said the women were selected because they each brought a unique lens to their respective companies that has helped push connected technologies forward.

There are few lists that celebrate successful women and only one that recognizes women of the M2M and technology space. Call it the Internet of Things or M2M, our industry and these women have enabled the world of people and machines to collide gracefully, said Peggy Smedley, editorial director, Connected World magazine, in a news release announcing the list.

Balasubramaniam, who has been with Aeris since 1998, is among the leading developers of software and other technologies such as analytics and on-demand services for customers. As Aeris expands its portfolio of products to serve customers with more complex M2M needs, Balasubramaniam is also developing those products.

Balasubramaniam has been instrumental in creating the Aeris network from the transition from analog to digital communications, through the growth of 3G networks, and now to the 4G LTE (Long-Term Evolution) standard. She currently holds all or part of three patents.

Balasubramaniam is a role model and mentor for women who are following her career path at Aeris. She is active in the Aeris Women Enclave, a group designed to mentor young professionals within Aeris, our partners and customers, on topics like technology, innovation, career growth, work-life balance and more.

A native of southern India, Balasubramaniam received an M.S. in Computer Science from the University of Colorado in Boulder.
